About us
Theatre Bristol is a partnership between people involved in Theatre in Bristol,
Arts Council England and Bristol City Council. The role of the partnership is
to develop the theatre industry in Bristol.
How do you develop the theatre industry? We are always open to new answers to
the question, new ideas and new ways of working. This section tells you about
the approach that Theatre Bristol has taken over the last few years and what's
planned
for the future.
By its nature the partnership is broad and many people are involved in one way
or another. Where it says 'we' it refers to everyone who has made the initiatives
what they are.

Last year Theatre Bristol held two large Open Space events: What's possible and who cares? and Where do we go from here? Continuing this theme of enquiry into what a thriving ecology of live performance might look like for Bristol we are holding a series of smaller seminars and then another Open Space in this summer.
To inspire us we are inviting people from internationally recognised performance projects to kick start the seminars by telling us some of their stories. Kick starting the first in the series will be Lucy Neal OBE with stories from her 25 years as Co-director of the wonderful LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre). To find out more about LIFT follow this link: http://www.liftfest.org.uk/about/
The seminars are part of a broader consultation to determine how best to nurture a live performance culture of ambition in Bristol.
To read more about the process of consultation you can download the two page document below, Towards a thriving theatre industry for Bristol.
